Vietato ai maggiori di 6 anni is an active educational journey guided by the workshop-based approach of director Federika Ponnetti, who prioritized the active involvement of the children in the film. Stepping out of the classroom, the children experienced and explored the local area firsthand. At the director’s request, the young participants did more than just observe; they actively took part by recording sounds, voices, and images—and allowing themselves to be recorded in turn—thereby transforming the city into an open-air film set and discovering audiovisual media as a tool for storytelling and connection. As the director of photography, I shot principal photography on a Leica sl3 while simultaneously matching my footage to the three other cameras operated by the children, a SONY a6500, a DJI, and a GoPro.

A Guinean migrant struggling to build a life in Paris joins a theater workshop which unlocks buried truths, sparking a journey of healing and self-discovery.

Synopsis

The Best in the World follows Mouctar, a Guinean migrant navigating a new life in Paris. He enrolls in a non-profit school for migrants in Paris, where he meets Marion, an American social worker who runs an after-school theater workshop, which he eagerly joins. During interviews for the thesis Marion is writing, theater workshops, and immigration procedures, Mouctar tells a tragic tale of why he left his home. But the struggles he encounters as a migrant in Paris trigger nightmares that hint at a far darker truth. 

During a theater workshop, Mouctar is forced to confront his heartbreaking past. When he finally shares his truth, Mouctar forms a bond with Marion that helps him begin to heal from his nightmarish childhood and forgive those that hurt him.

“Le Meilleur du Monde” has screened at 22 international film festivals, recieved 17 nominations and 11 awards, including “Best First-time Director”, “Best début feature”, “Audience award”, “Youth jury prize”, and the prestigious “Dikalo de la Paix” from Cannes International Panafrican Film Festival. ‘Le Meilleur du Monde’ will continue to screen at festivals until late 2026 and will be distributed throughout Europe, West Africa, the U.S., and on streaming platforms in early 2027.

Synopsis

What They Left Behind traverses the emotional and physical landscapes left in the wake of those who leave and those who remain. Synopsis
